“NEUREKA” STATE OF MIND: THE CUTTING EDGE OF PSYCHOTHERAPY

Mattieu Ricard, biologist turned Buddhist monk and touted as the happiest man on the planet, suggests that we can train our minds in habits of well-being to generate fulfillment and calm.  Well-being or the Whole Brain State is the state that underlies all other emotional states.  Ricard tells us that no one wakes up in the morning and thinks, “what can I suffer all day?”

Our brains have the capacity to create the Whole Brain State, a balanced experience where we feel calm, happy, motivated, and in control of thinking, feeling, and behaving.  When blood flow is equalized in the brain’s hemispheres, the result is a synchronous oscillation of brain frequencies.  When in this state, we can facilitate physical and emotional healing of all kinds.  What is the significance of this information?  We have the capacity to manage how often the brain and heart move into this coherent or “Neureka” state.

In the “neureka” state of mind, you can have amazing insights, epiphanies, serendipities, shifts in perspectives that dissolve limited thinking and open a whole new world of eureka-possibility.  A superconscious meditation exercise that is practiced can result in short bursts of gamma seen in long-term meditating monks.  Over the last 20 years in our clinic, we saw clients experience these bursts right before having profound insights into their lives where they “knew” what to do about situations and problems.

Practice laser focus by looking at a spot on the wall or a candle flame. When you try not blinking for as long as you can your will power increases.   Then close the eyes and imagine the flame.  Trying to stay in a state of thoughtlessness will stimulate other thoughts.  Just allow them to come and go and return your attention to the flame or spot on the wall in real time or your imagination.

Watch for our next newsletter where we will describe the next step to stimulate the pineal gland to open deep insights and awareness.

Upcoming Activities:
